Learn the basics of coil building large sculptures with a focus on sturdy bases and animal forms. Class will begin with understanding the basics of coil building. It will progress into planning your sculpture design, beginning with several critical choices, such as the choice of clay, from which other design considerations flow. The class will culminate in executing your design into a final form in a community space. All experience levels welcome.
Tuition includes 25 pounds of clay, bisque and glaze firings, use of our 20+ in-house glazes, and access to the studio during *Open Studio hours.
Students are responsible for cleaning all classroom tools and work areas by the end of class.
Please remove jewelry from wrists and fingers, tie back long hair, trim long fingernails and wear clothes that can get dirty.
You must be paid and registered to reserve a space in the class.
*Open Studio Hours: For enrolled adult students only. 6 hours free with registration; each additional hour $3/hr. Hours subject to change when workshops, parties, or special events are in session, or when a monitor is not available.
