Whats new at Frederick Clay?!
Check here for events, updates, news, and more! Our little clay community is always bustling with excitement!
6/24/19 New summer session is now online!
Did you know the third Monday of each session is when we try to get the schedule out for the next upcoming session? This gives you all a full 5 weeks to decide which class to take and get signed up before the next session starts! Be careful though, classes do fill fast- if you know which class you want, sign up sooner rather than later to save your spot!
6/6/19 Get ready for the Sidewalk Sale!
We all love making pottery. But what happens when you make and make and make and all of a sudden there is a mountain of pots filling up your house?! If this sounds familiar to you it may be time to try selling your pots at our annual Sidewalk Sale! This is a great low pressure, low risk environment to experiment with sales. Bring us your glaze experiments, that strange class project you tried, or the perfect amazing mug that you just cant squeeze into your cabinet anymore! You might be surprised at what you sell! More information available in the studio. This years sale will be held on July 6 2019. See you there!
5/31/19 Give us more Open Studio hours!
You asked, we deliver! We’ve added a ton of extra Open Studio hours recently for your potting pleasure. Open Studio will now run 9am-8pm on the first Saturday and third Friday of every month, in addition to our usual weekly hours. Woohoo! We are also adding a ton of extra hours during our break weeks- you can expect to see the studio open 9am-3pm most days during our break. Be sure to check our Open Studio Hours page for the most up to date times!
5/17/19 New Glaze - Robins Egg
We are so thrilled to announce we’ve added a new glaze to our studio selection! Robins Egg is a fabulous celadon-esque pale blue that has some beautiful effects with layered with some of our other in house glazes.
You may notice that our test tiles are made of a white clay- Warm Buff, to be exact. But what if you use a different color clay body? We are now working on updating all of our test tiles so that each side of the square tile accurately portrays its glaze combination on our different stoneware clay bodies! This change makes it so you can quickly and easily see the difference between our Red Rock, Speckled Brown and Dark Brown clays. Hooray! What glaze would you want to see us add to our collection next?
